Inter season

For the four month winter season (December to April) and the two month summer season (July and August) the village is awash with visitors.

However for the other six months the village reverts to its traditional mountain working. The ski instructors, lift personnel, hotel and restaurant staff become farmers, builders and artisans. The rhythm of the village relaxes as the inhabitants recover from the seasonal influx of visitors.

But the scenery does not take a rest, Spring and Autumn in the mountains have their own breathtaking beauty. The unbelievable range of greens of May and June contrast with the riot of colours of the carpets of wild flowers that bloom almost immediately they are released from the melting snow. The golds and reds of September to November are highlighted by the early snows on the peaks.

For calm and rest an inter season break cannot be matched. You will find most of the restaurants and tourist based facilities closed down and the shop opening hours adjusted to suit the diminished population. But with virtually all the visitors gone, what is left is all for you!
