Whilst skiing has replaced farming as the principal income generator in St Sorlin, this only provides a living for four months of the year. Summer tourism is also important to the village, with July and August the main working months.

With its beautiful alpine setting the village is an ideal centre for summer mountain activities. These can range from the most extreme of adventurous recreational pursuits to the most peaceful. The clean fresh air provides an added value for everyone. For the artistic the dramatic scenery and lighting help trigger that creative flow.
