Gaston Maulin's project of linking St Sorlin with the La Toussuire and Le Corbier ski resorts has created Les Sybelles, an area that ranks high in the list of the largest French ski areas, with over 300 kilometres of high quality intermediate level skiing.

Described as one of France's best kept secrets, now the high altitude lift system linking to the La Toussuire, Le Corbier and Villards snow fields is complete, St Sorlin is rapidly gaining international fame.

Since its first development as individual ski resorts, the area has been popular with French families, but has remained virtually unknown in the English speaking ski world. Even in peak season the Sybelles slopes have managed to escape the saturation levels of the more famous ‘Costa del Neige’ stations. Benefitting by studying such problems, Maulin has carefully tailored the development of St Sorlin to the expansion of the uphill transport system and the piste equipment.

St Sorlin and the Sybelles area could be taken as the role model for family skiing, a snow paradise for beginner and intermediate skiers.

There has never been a better time to enjoy this delightful ski area and Dome de la Cochette provides the perfect base, secluded yet ideally positioned at the heart of the village.
