With its key position on the Col de la Croix de Fer, St Sorlin is magnificently placed as a base for those adventurous ‘Col’ baggers. All the great names of the Tour de France mountain sections are available, plus a wealth of other cols that have so far escaped the Tour.
 
The Dôme de la Cochette is equally well placed as a spectator base for those following the mountain sections of the Tour, or the more specialist Dauphinée and Arvan/Villards races.
 
For those wishing to try out their stamina without bringing their own cycle, road bikes can be hired either in the village or down in the valley.
 
If you are attracted to the adrenaline rush of careering down the ski trails on two wheels, various ski lifts open two days per week for both foot passengers and mountain bikes. Of course there are many other trails where you can demonstrate your own uphill strengths.
 

The Trans-Maurienne annual four day rally is a great spectator event but is also open to international entries!
